9 months in, 9 months out!

9 month stats:

Weight: 21 lbs. 12 oz. (75%)

Height: 28 1/2 inches (60%)

Head: 18 inches (65%)

So both his weight and his height percentages went down about 10 percent, but his head went up 40 percent. Interesting.

It is incredible to me how quickly Gavin is changing. This past month we have seen so many changes in our little guy. Probably the number one change is how social he has become! Everyone has commented on how he is much more smiley and responsive to everyone around him. He used to always have this super serious face all of the time, but now he smiles all of the time.

He is also becoming a lot more vocal. He makes a lot of noises, but no words yet. The closest thing to a word is "aba" which he says a lot!

He is still eating like a little monster. He eats pretty much anything we put in front of him (except bananas). We are still slowly introducing new foods but I think his favorites are sweet potatoes and peas. I am still making most of his food which I absolutely love. (It's a lot easier now that I am using my new blendtec blender! AMAZING!)

He still hasn't made any progress on crawling. He will get up on his hands, but because he arches his back so much he won't put his knees underneath himself. He will occasionally push himself backwards, which just makes him mad. I'm not worried about the crawling thing, I have too much to do to get the apartment baby proofed!

Sadly he is no longer my champion sleeper. We used to put him to bed at 7:00 and we literally would not hear a peep until 7:00 the next morning. Now he always wakes up around 5:30 but will go back to sleep until about 6:30. Lately though he has been a little sick and has been waking up numerous times during the night. Naps have also become a huge struggle, with most lasting only about an hour. I want my sleeping baby back!!

He still loves to be outside. It's getting a little bit too hot outside during the day so we don't spend too much time outside but I try to get him out when I can. We are still doing swim lessons and he loves the water. He is a little more relaxed but still doesn't like to be on his back in the water.

It's been a crazy 18 months with 9 months of pregnancy and 9 months of baby! I don't think you can ever prepare yourself for life with a baby. But we are loving it and enjoying all of the time that we have with our little guy.

Rise and shout, Utah got out...

...of the MWC!


As the most dominant non-AQ team since the inception of the BCS in the late 90's, the Utah Utes have just accomplished another feat: BCS conference buster. On June 17th, 2010, the Utes formally accepted an invitation from the Pac-10 to become the 12th member of the conference. What a great day to be a Ute. Let's review, together, what this means:

1. The Utes no longer have to worry about being left out of a national championship should they have an undefeated season.


2. The Utes can make the goal of visiting sunny Pasadena, home of the Rose Bowl and the Pac-10 champion's annual bowl game.


3. $$$ - This move provides the Utes with a great new stream of revenue. The MWC currently pays out just north of $1 million per year in TV revenue. As the two time BCS buster, the Utes have paid out WAY more money to the rest of the conference than the Utes have gotten back. Not the case in the Pac-10. Currently, the Pac-10 pays out around $8 million a year in TV revenue. With the championship game that comes with 12 teams, and the development of a Pac-10 network (with Fox supposedly), revenues could double.


4. Recruiting. Always helps to be a big dog, be on tv and have money.


5. The Utes are being rewarded for one great decade. Two time BCS buster, best record against the BCS teams by a non-AQ, etc. I cannot emphasize this enough: What a decade by the Utes, and what a way to be rewarded.

Teeth!

Teeth!!

I was just looking through some old pictures and I saw this one and realized that in the 2 weeks since this picture was taken, Gavin has doubled the number of teeth he has. He now has 8 teeth! He is changing so fast.

I guess it's time for some finger foods. I'm just so paranoid about him choking. So purees continue to work just fine for me.

8 months

I know that I am really late in posting this, but at least I have it up before he turns 9 months!

We are definitely loving 8 months. It's amazing how much Gavin continues to change every single day. He is definitely developing a little personality and is so much fun.

At 8 months he:

-Finally loves to eat solid foods! He has eaten rice cereal, avocado, bananas, apricots, peaches, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, green beans and cheerios.

-LOVES cheerios. Could eat them all day, everyday. He is starting to learn how to pick them up on his own and can mostly get them in his mouth.

-Still has no desire to crawl or to even be on his tummy. (I am perfectly okay with him being immobile at this point)

-Doesn't sleep as long at night anymore. He used to sleep at least 12 hours, if not more, without even making a peep. Now he will only sleep about 11 hours.

-Takes amazing naps!! He takes 2 naps a day now and they are usually 2 hours each. Sometimes they are a little longer and sometimes a little shorter. If he wakes up "early" from a nap though he is now content to lay in his crib playing and talking to himself until I go and get him.

-He now loves his pacifier. He has to have it to take his naps and go to bed at night. I was a little hesitant to let him get attached to it, but for now it is worth it.

-Still loves to be outside.

-Wears size 18 - 24 month clothes!

We just love this little (big) guy!!

Pure Coconut Heaven

They are absolutely amazing! Seriously, you must try them. They show up randomly at the store and when they do, I am in heaven! I don't know why they aren't available all year long.

Last night Andrew came home from the store with a package for me. I was thrilled! He said he would go and get me some more today. He asked how many packages I wanted. I told him "ten .... hundred."

If you see them at the store, make sure to buy one for yourself (and a couple for me too!)

Maybe they came back in the stores just for my birthday?
