New Orleans - Day 1

At the beginning of football season, Andrew made a bet with his dad. Andrew was claiming that Utah would be the BCS busters, and Joe said it would be BYU. So they agreed that whichever team made it to a BCS game, the other one had to pay for the trip. I think that this was Andrew's way of getting me to cheer against BYU so that we didn't have to be the ones paying for a trip.

So, when Utah finished their season undefeated we knew we were either headed to New Orleans or Phoenix. I have never been to New Orleans, so I was really hoping that was where it would be. I know that the Fiesta Bowl was the "better" bowl game, but I still wanted the Sugar bowl. And we got it! So on New Years Day we got on a plane with Joe and Hillary (Andrew's sister) and we were headed to the Big Easy!

Our first flight we were the very last row in the plane. But we didn't care, we were just happy to be there.
We had a great view of ... the engine!
When we got to the New Orleans Airport we were greeted with these welcome signs! There was lot of excitement just being there, the whole town was ready for the big game!
After we checked in to our hotel we decided to hurry to downtown to check out the city. The streets were crazy! There were so many people there, both Utah and Alabama fans. It was loud, crowded and amazing!

We walked down Bourbon street. Not a place that I want to spend most of my nights, but it was fun to be there and to take it all in.

After walking around Bourbon street we went to dinner at Palace Cafe. Andrew's mom said that we definitely had to go there for dinner. It was delicious and is a really cute place.

The dessert was definitely the best part. We had bananas foster which they flambe' tableside.

Delcious bread pudding.

Blueberry cheesecake ... amazing!
We then finished off the first night in New Orleans by stopping by Preservation Hall, a famous old Jazz club.
We were excited to be in New Orleans and we were ready for the next day and the big game!
