Undefeated with one giant loss....

The Utes enjoyed an unprecedented second run to the BCS this year.  Another undefeated regular season, with a sound beating of the rival team to the south of campus.  This season, however, finally saw a loss. A big loss. Creating a void for the University of Utah.

Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin died this week at the age of 91.  He was a good Ute and a better man (I totally stole that line from my friend Tom, sorry Tommy.) .  Elder Wirthlin played running back for the U way back in the day.  His quick moves earned him the nickname "speedy."  Boy I wish that was my nickname.  It would be a total lie, as "slow guy" is much more appropriate.

Elder Wirthlin was a visible presence at the U.  Attending practices, speaking to the team, visiting with the University president.  Wirthlin cared for the U.  He helped make the U a great place to learn and enjoy life.  He cared about the growth and held high hopes for the U.  Hopefully, as a fellow graduate, I can continue what he began.

Speedy, U will be missed.
