Food, glorious New York food!

When I told people we were going to New York and we asked for suggestions of things to do, 99% of all suggestions involved food. So we spent a lot of time sampling the delicious food that New York has to offer.

The first night there it was rainy and cold, so we decided that comfort food would be best. We went to The Playwright which was recommended by my friend Brittany.

We started with the cheesiest, most delicious french onion soup.

Brittany recommended the shepherds pie, so I got that and Andrew had fish and chips. Both were delicious!

A few people recommended H&H bagels so we tried those. They were pretty good bagels.

Of course you have to eat pizza while you were in New York.

My friend Erica recommended The Chocolate Bar. It didn't take much to convince me that we should definitely try it out. It is this super cute little shop in The West Village.

They had a huge selection of chocolate tea and anything else chocolate you could want.

It was pretty warm that day so we weren't in the mood for hot tea, but we got the iced chocolate tea and another iced blood orange/pear tea. Both were delicious. We brought home some of the chocolate tea to try out on the next cold day.

While walking around Battery Park we munched on these candied almonds.

We found this huge candy store and had to check it out. It is called Dylans Candy Bar. The stairs looked like this
And the walls looked like this.
They had every kind of candy imaginable. We walked away with this delicious bag of assorted flavors of gummi bears. They had really interesting flavors like banana, coconut, grape, raspberry, watermelon, etc.

A few people had also recommended Serendipity 3 because of their frozen hot chocolate.

It was absolutely delicious, and their food was really good too.
We spent a few hours in Chelsea Market and found a lot of good things to try.

Andrew was in heaven at this place, the Milk Bar. He was so excited when he found out he could drink milk from a glass bottle. He ended up drinking 2 pints of milk in one hour. I'm so proud.

They had really good food there too.
Andrew got this waffle

And I had the macaroni and cheese. Both were delicious!

They had a lot of different bakeries in the market. These guys were making some type of bread with chocolate chips in it.

We got a few other things including cookies and brownies and this perfect lemon bar. So good! You can find all different kinds of food at the market.

While we were walking around SOHO we decided to try another recommendation from my friend Erica, Rice to Riches. It is rice pudding heaven. They have about 20 different flavors of rice pudding for you to choose from.

We chose pretty traditional flavors, cinnamon and almond with an oatmeal coconut crumble on top. It was a very cool place and I would definitely go back to try another flavor.
And finally you can't go to New York and not get a soft pretzel from the street vendors.

I can definitely say that we left New York well fed and probably a few pounds heavier (and happier).
