Johnson Family California Trip: Disneyland Day 1

For Christmas this last year my parents gave us all a trip to Disneyland!! We knew that we would be blessing Avery and so we planned a time when everyone could come out for the week before and have a fun trip!

My family all drove in on Saturday night and spent the day at Sea World. Andrew and I couldn't make it down that day, so we were just going to drive down the next morning and meet them at the Disneyland Hotel.

The kids didn't sleep very well that night and they both ended up in our bed early the next morning. I would be more frustrated if they weren't so cute in their matching pajamas!

Gavin was very excited to go to "Mickey's House" and he insisted on holding Donald and Mickey the entire way down there.

We were staying at the Paradise Pier Hotel. It is the newer of the 3 Disneyland hotels. We got there too early to check in to our room, but my family was already checked in from the night before so we were able to unload our stuff in to their rooms and then get ready for the day at Disneyland. It was a little crazy at the hotel and the parks that day because Disneyland's entire computer system had shut down. I had no idea that could happen!! They couldn't accept any credit cards anywhere throughout the park. You had to pay cash only. We also couldn't get a room key when we came back that night and there were huge crowds of people waiting to be let in to their rooms by the staff. It was crazy!

It was so nice to be close to the park and to be able to just walk over there. We decided to start out the day in California Adventure. Gavin was beyond excited to see the Toy Story characters! We were in line to see Buzz, but he had to leave before we got there. Luckily he stopped in line long enough to say "hi!"

Woody and Jesse were there too!

Grandma and Grandpa then took Gavin and Avery on the carousel! Gavin was able to ride a "monster" so he was happy!

I think Avery and Grandma might have both fallen asleep.

We then went on the Toy Story ride. I love this one! It was a little difficult to do while holding Avery, but I still managed to do pretty well!

We headed over to "A Bug's Land" for some fun rides.

Gavin was a great bumper cars driver! I look a little concerned though.

Gavin entertained himself while waiting in line by putting this sticker on his face. (He may or may not have found the sticker on the ground, and I may or may not have cared and let him play with it anyway. Whatever kept him happy at that point!)

I was one of those annoying people that took a picture with my cell phone of the pictures from the ride. But we had taken Seth on the Tower of Terror and his mom, Heather, wanted to see his face. He is in the back row with his dad. He pretty much has zero expression on his face at all!

The kids did really well and had a fun day. They both took naps in the stroller. They were still doing a lot of construction in California Adventure, but there were a lot of new things that we hadn't seen yet. They also had some new restaurants. I noticed that they now have a lot more healthier options, which is nice.

Gavin found these Cars remote control cars. He was very entertained by them. I think he was fascinated that they were moving on their own!

That night we went to "World of Color." I have seen it 2 or 3 times already, but it's still really fun! It was a long and exhausting day. But a lot of fun!!
