Chicago to Rome

I know that I am way behind on posts, but I have promised to get our Italy trip pictures up here, so I am going to skip everything for now and post about our trip.

Andrew and I woke up very early on Wednesday morning and flew to Chicago. We had about a 6 hour layover before our flight to Rome, so we decided to go in to the city and check it out. Andrew had been to Chicago before, but I have never been. We took the train in. I was excited to finally visit the city of "E.R." (even though I know that was all filmed in Burbank ...).

The first place we went was to get pizza. We had heard amazing things about Chicago pizza. Unfortunately we were both disappointed. We went to UNO pizza and got their lunch special which was an individual pizza. Apparently that is definitely not what you want to do. The individual pizzas are not as good. I thought it was weird and there was too many toppings and it just wasn't delicious. Oh well. Maybe we will have better luck next time.

Then we walked down to the pier. It was fun just to see the city. The architecture is amazing! We saw Michigan Avenue where all the shops are. We also saw the river that they turn green for St. Patrick's Day. We also saw the big statue of Marilyn Monroe.

You can see the guy standing underneath looking up. I'm sure a thousand people do that everyday!
Trump Tower. It was SO tall!

We then headed back to the airport where we met Joe and Annette. Our flight to Rome was delayed because our plane was leaking fuel. We even all loaded the plane and everything. Luckily they got another plane quickly so we didn't have to spend the night there. We finally boarded the plane and took off for a long flight to Rome!

I've never been to Chicago, and it was fun to see those pics. That's too bad about the pizza not being good! That would have been my first stop too.
