Avery's Adventures: Month 2

Our baby girl is 2 months old!

Avery experienced a lot of new things this month!

She went to the zoo.

And she slept.
She rode the train
And she slept.

She had her first road trip to Phoenix where she went to a baseball game

And she slept.
She went to the beach. Twice.

She had her first Easter Egg Hunt.

She met her Grandma Jarvis

She met her Aunt Caitlin

Avery definitely woke up more this month. She loves it when you just sit and talk to her. She interacts and will even smile. She tries to talk and makes really fun faces.

She doesn't automatically fall asleep in her carseat. She will sometimes stay awake when we go on walks or drives.

Her hair is lightening up quite a bit, but she still has quite the mullet going on in the back.

Other things about Month 2:

  • She still sleeps quite a bit, but definitely has longer periods of awake time. She can stay awake for about an hour to hour and a half before she is grumpy and needs to sleep.
  • She will go to sleep pretty quickly if you swaddle her, give her a pacifier and hold her. She will sleep really well if you hold her. If you put her down after she is asleep she will sometimes stay asleep for about 30 minutes or so, but a lot of times she will wake up immediately.
  • She loves to be held all of the time. She rarely will be happy just sitting or laying by herself. I know we should probably "work on" that, but I can't resist holding her all of the time. Unfortunately when she has to be put down so we can do something else she will just scream and scream.
  • Starting this month she stopped being a great eater. It's a struggle almost everyday to get her to eat. She started only wanting to eat on one side each feeding and only wanting to eat for about 5-10 minutes. This is a big change from Gavin who would eat 20 minutes on each side! I knew that she was eating enough because she is growing, but she just seems to hate eating. When I go to feed her she will just start screaming and it takes about a minute or two before she will start eating. She will have one or two days of really good, happy eating, but then goes back to fussing the whole time.
  • She is very gassy!! It doesn't seem to bother her too much, but it's constant and loud!
  • She sleeps pretty well at night. I will feed her before I go to bed and then we put her down in the packnplay and she will sleep there for about 5 hours. She will then eat again and then go back to sleep for about 4 more hours.
  • She is still a really noisy sleeper. She never wakes us up with crying, just grunting sounds. It almost makes me want to put her in another room, but I still like having her close by.
  • She likes her car seat, as long as we are moving. She will scream in the car if we are stopped. But if we move then she will calm down.
  • She loves her pacifier! She will only take one kind though and unfortunately I don't love the color options that they have. I am not a huge fan of seeing a pacifier in a babies mouth all of the time and so I am pretty picky about which ones I want her to have. The ones she takes only have really dark colors and prints. I like the plain clear ones. Oh well. It makes her happy so it's worth it!
  • She is getting very strong! She can hold her head up really well and is starting to want to stand more too.
2 months old:

Weight: 13 lbs. (95%)
Height: 23 1/2 inches (90%)
Head: 15 3/4 (80%)

Love the side by side comparison photo. And thanks for all the detail about her as she grows. We look forward to the blessing.

My babies get fussy about eating and gassy and that's when I know they are lactose intolerant and it's time for me to go off dairy! It can take over a week to see improvement after you do, but it is worth a shot if it may help. She's quite a doll!

She is so cute! Ave was never a long eater, 7 minutes per side, tops. Maybe she's just getting more efficient? Good luck!

I love her dark eyes, big cheeks and poochy lower lip. So cute!! I can relate to the holding problem. I am currently holding Cora while she naps because she wakes up every time I attempt to put her down. Sigh. I really need to get some stuff done. Oh well, thank heaven for smart phones so I can catch up on your blog! :)

Is the eating going any better?
