While our house was being treated for termites, we took a mini vacation out to Ventura for a couple of days. Caitlin was with us and we had a great time. I had only been out to Ventura for a couple hours a few years ago and I have always wanted to go back.
The Village was a lot of fun. There were a lot of fun boats to look at.
Gavin had a great time looking at the boats.
They had a bunch of shops there. They also had a big arcade room with a carousel. Gavin has always loved carousels so we thought he would want to go. When Caitlin took him on he became very grumpy because they did not have a trunk (elephant) or a monster for him to ride on like the one at our mall has. He became super grumpy and wouldn't smile the whole time.
We then let Gavin run around outside while we waited for Andrew to join us. He had fun looking at the wind wheels that they had out.
They had this very cool bubble machine on the top of that building. Every ten minutes or so bubbles would come out. Gavin loved it!
After Andrew got there we all went to Andria's Seafood for lunch. This place came highly recommended and it did not disappoint!! The fish and chips were delicious. I don't like seafood, but I love fish and chips! (I guess if you batter and fry something up then I will eat it!) Their kids meal had dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets that Gavin devoured! Now I am craving those fish and chips!
Walking around the village we found these fun cut outs (I'm not sure what they are actually called). I don't know why, but I think these are so funny!!
It was absolutely beautiful there!
We found a yummy looking ice cream shop. It was great!
Avery enjoyed a little bit of sun.
We then went out to the outlet stores for the rest of the night. We had fun shopping and Gavin found a lot of great Cars stuff at the Disney outlet! We stopped at Cafe Rio for a delicious dinner and then went to the hotel for the night. I was a little nervous about having both Gavin and Avery in the same room at night, hoping that they didn't wake each other up. But they both slept really well!
The next morning we all slept in. Andrew had to go downtown for a meeting with a recruiter, so Caitlin and I took Gavin and Avery to the beach. The weather was pretty nice, but definitely not warm up enough to get in the water. Gavin had a great time though! It has been a long time since we had been to the beach. He absolutely loved it!! I loved watching him have so much fun!
Gavin found a ladybug on his arm.
And he quickly buried it in the sand.
Gavin loved to run up to the water and then run away from it. One time he got a little too close and the wave got him. Luckily Caitlin was there to grab him out of the water. But then they were both pretty wet! It didn't stop Gavin though. He still wanted more!
After a fun time at the beach, we had to go. Gavin was not happy about leaving, but I promised him we would go back soon! We stopped at the outlet stores again quickly. As soon as we pulled in to the parking lot Gavin said "I need more cars!" Apparently he remembered the Disney store!
It was a quick trip, but a lot of fun! I hope we can go back to Ventura soon!
