Sierra Madre Easter Egg Hunt

We live on the border of a cute little town, Sierra Madre. They always do really fun things, including an Easter egg hunt. It is put on by the fire department and the Easter Bunny rides in on the firetruck!! They actually don't hide eggs, just candy, and it's not so much hidden as just thrown on the grass.

We lined up on the side of the grass and had to wait for the whistle to blow. Gavin was trying to wait patiently.  (The pink bucket was the only one I could find at the last minute)

Here are the firemen throwing out the candy.

Gavin is trying to sneak out a little bit early to get some candy. I had to stand in front of him to keep him from running.

Avery waited very patiently.

When the whistle blew and everyone started running Gavin wasn't so sure what to do. It took a lot of encouraging and explaining to get him to finally go out and pick up the candy.

Once he figured out what was going on, he really went after the candy.

He quickly dropped the bucket, realizing that it was slowing him down.

I definitely should have brought a bigger bucket!  Gavin had strict instructions from Andrew to get the chocolate raisins and from Caitlin to get the nerd ropes.

We also met up with Betsy who was there getting candy as well.

Thanks to Caitlin we got this great video of the whole thing. I love the part in the video when he picks up one of the first pieces of candy and clings to it, making sure no one steals it from him (it's at about :20)

After collecting all of the candy we met up with the Easter Bunny.

We then went to check out the firetrucks!

When we sat Gavin and Betsy down for some pictures, Gavin took the opportunity to steal from Betsy's basket. Nice move, buddy!

Gavin does not like to hold Avery and does this whenever we try.

We were happy that Caitlin was visiting so she could be there!

This was the best picture we could get of the two of them.

I don't know what they were looking at, but it must have been interesting!!
