Sleep Training - Day 1

I was going to wait until we got back from vacation to start my "sleep training" with little G. But because our vacation was unexpectedly extended for one week, I thought there would be no harm in trying to start out a few things. I also decided to try and record our progress here so that I could have a good record of this and also maybe solicit advice when needed (and maybe a little praise when things are going well.) So here we go with day 1.

I thought today was a big success. During the day I put Gavin down for a nap on his own (meaning I didn't hold him.) He fell asleep while I was holding him but then I put him down on the bed and left him there. He stayed asleep for one hour. It was amazing. I wish I could say that I got a lot done in that hour, but I actually ended up spending most of the time checking in on him because I just couldn't believe that he was still asleep. Then that night at 10:30 I decided it was time for bed. He wasn't asleep, but I thought I would lay down with him and see if he would fall asleep, and after about 15 minutes, he did. It was the first time that he fell asleep without me having to feed him or rock him to sleep. It was great!

So I would consider day 1 a huge success!
