Avery's Adventures: Week Three

Avery started to wake up a little bit more this week. She still slept a lot, even at night, but she did have more periods of awake time.

We were excited to have Grandma, Grandpa and Aunt Jonyce still in town to hang out with us.

We had a busy day at Travel Town and West Hollywood. (I already did a separate post all about that) Avery did really well at Travel Town, sleeping the whole time.
I knew that I probably should have woken up her to feed her before we left, but she was sleeping so peacefully I didn't want to bother her. So we left and headed out for ice cream. Unfortunately we got stuck in major traffic! We were driving right through Hollywood, not realizing that the Oscars were that weekend. We drove by the Kodak Theater and it slowed us down so much. She woke up in the middle of this and she was not happy!! She was hungry, hot and tired of being in the car seat. This was the first time that she really had a panic freak out where she was screaming uncontrollably. I felt so bad for her! But we finally made it and everyone got out to get ice cream and I stayed in the car and fed her. She calmed down pretty quickly. Especially when I fed her ice cream ... ha ha, just kidding!
When we got home, everyone was exhausted from our busy day out!

My dad brought a project that he had been working on for quite awhile. A small table and chairs for the kids!! He did such a great job building it and it looks great! It is so fun to have these fun things that my dad made just for the kids. Gavin was so excited for them!

Whenever my dad comes to visit I always have a "to do" list for him of things that need to be fixed around the house. He is so handy that he can do anything, or figure out how to do it. I had him fix Gavin's toy chest by putting a safety hinge on it and put a sealant on it. He also brought me a new bookshelf and anchored it to the wall. He also fixed Gavin's bed which was broken in 2 places. He was going to help me hang a couple of shelves, but I couldn't decide where I wanted them put. Thanks, Dad!!

Saturday morning my family went to the farmer's market, Andrew went to a basketball game and I stayed home with the kids. They were both wearing their super soft "kicky pants" pajamas.

Avery spent some time under her activity center. She won't really stay there very long, but hopefully she will begin to like it more.

Avery soaked up all the grandpa time she could get!

It looks like maybe I worked my dad too hard with his to do list.
Sunday morning my family all left! It was so sad to have everyone leave. We were now all alone with 2 kids! It was a little scary!!

Avery had her first real bath this week. Gavin likes to have "the B" in the tub with him. He likes to pour water on her. We just have to make sure he doesn't pour it on her head!

This didn't really have anything to do with Avery, but this week we discovered termites in our house! Yuck!! I saw these pop up and as they started to grow and we saw the little bugs working hard we realized what they were. We called our landlords right away and were hopeful to get things fixed quickly!

Other things we noticed about Avery this week:
-She is a very noisy sleeper. She makes all sorts of grunting, squeaking and other noises while she sleeps. She would keep up us in the middle of the night, not because she was awake, but because she was sleeping!
-She is a big burper! I have never heard a baby girl burp so loudly. She also seems to have a really sensitive tummy and I have to stop and burp her numerous times during the feeding. Luckily she burps pretty quickly.
-She continued to sleep constantly through feedings. I just couldn't get her to wake up to eat. She continued to eat really well for about 5 minutes but would then doze off. I started to worry that she wasn't getting enough to eat. We had to take Gavin in for a blood test so they said to bring Avery in for a weight check, just to make sure she was getting enough. She weighed 9 lbs. 8 oz, so she had gained 8 ounces in 7 days, which is great. So apparently even though she is sleeping through the feedings, she is getting enough!

We are grateful that she sleeps so well. Especially since Gavin has not been doing so well at night. He has been waking up numerous times in the night. Andrew has to go in to him many times and usually ends up sleeping on the floor in his room. That mixed with waking up to feed Avery, we are both pretty exhausted right now!

On Wednesday night, Grandpa Joe came in to town! We were very excited to have family back to meet Avery and spend time with all of us! We spent Thursday at Huntington Gardens. It was a beautiful day. Avery spent another day in the stroller. Gavin had a fun time and Grandpa was able to chase him around all day!

Time is going by so quickly!

How do you pronounce Jonyce?

That table and chairs are so great!

Hey, we have the same play mat too. :)

Yikes about the termites! So gross!

Do you think Gavin is hearing the baby? Or any theories on why he's waking up so much? That's rough.
