Weekend trip to Phoenix

This past weekend we made a quick trip to Phoenix to visit some of Andrew's family. We really needed a vacation and it was a lot of fun! We wanted to make it out to Phoenix before it got too hot and we were lucky enough to have temperatures in the mid 80's. It was a fun weekend with a lot of stuff going on.

Grandpa Jarvis is still very physically active and he kept Andrew going the whole time. They went on a long bike ride, played golf, pool, basketball, tennis and horseshoes (I get tired just typing that).

Gavin tried to help Andrew with his pool game.
We also went out to lunch at Costa Vida. (There is now Cafe Rio in California, but it still doesn't compare to Costa Vida).
Gavin loved the warm weather and all of the time we spent outside just hanging out.
He and Andrew had a lot of boy time.

We thought he might like to put his feet in the pool, but I think it was a little cold for him.
I love this picture! I'm so glad I caught this special moment.
More outside time.
Gavin loves to play with Andrew's hats. Here he is showing off the U hat.
We had a great visit with Uncle Brad and Aunt Alice. They gave us the most delicious freshly squeezed orange juice. It was absolutely amazing!
Here we are with Grandma and Grandpa Jarvis.
We went and had a delicious hamburger and frozen custard with Aunt Ginger and cousin Allie. It was fun to catch up with them. Gavin was very interested in the cup and it entertained him the entire time.
Gavin was so happy to finally meet his great grandparents.
I don't have any pictures of it, but we also were able to go see a movie while we were there. We put Gavin to bed and Grandma said she would listen for him. So Andrew and I took advantage of the opportunity and had a little date. We went and saw "How to Tame Your Dragon." It was a pretty cute movie. It was nice for us to be able to sit through the movie without having to entertain Gavin. The only bad thing was that we bought the large drinks and popcorn so we could get a free refill, but when our movie was over they had already closed up the concession stand and they wouldn't give us anything, LAME!

I took this picture of Gavin on the way home because he was just so happy. He did pretty well on the drive and only had a few moments of fussiness.
It was a great trip. I was really nervous about how Gavin would do with sleeping in a new place and not in his crib. But apparently he understood the meaning of vacation and he slept better than he ever has. He took great naps, some lasting even 2 1/2 hours! He also continued to sleep through the night and didn't even fuss when we would put him down. I wish I knew why, but it was wonderful. We've only been home one day, but his naps are back to being painfully horrible. I guess it's time for another vacation!

I've heard from the great grandparents who absolutely love Gavin. Great grandpa Jarvis noted that Andrew failed to play shuffleboard with him, so is expecting a near term return visit. Thanks for the blog post.

That sounded like a great trip. I'm jealous of the warm weather! Those pics of Andrew and Gavin together were really cute.

Oh man I love that place! But I am supremely disappointed that no shuffle board was played.
