Andrew started out his birthday very early. He and his friends, Jeremy (who's birthday is two days after Andrew's) and Dave decided to go birthday canyoneering in Eaton Canyon, near our home. They met at canyon bottom at 4:30 to make the trek up. After an hour hike, the boys celebrated birthdays by eating s'more pies from McDonalds. (This next part is written by Andrew) Canyoneering is basically following a river through the canyon, going over waterfalls and boulders and wading through pools of water. At the top, we got all geared up and made our way down. Eaton Canyon is a serious deal, with 10+ waterfalls and over 7 hours of trekking. Andrew thought (because he listened to Dave and Jeremy) he would be back by 9:30 or 10. He showed up at 12...but who can be mad at the birthday boy? Here are some pictures of Andrew and his buddies:
While Andrew was gone I got the kids up and we went out to get some birthday balloons. It was a huge mistake to go to Party City on a Saturday morning. It was so crowded and it took forever!! It was so difficult to keep Gavin entertained. I let him choose the balloon for Andrew. It was a really difficult choice between Lightning McQueen, Buzz Lightyear, Mickey Mouse and a big T-Rex. I thought it was going to be Lightning, but it ended up being the "Monster!!" He was so excited to give Andrew his balloons!
Once Andrew finally got home (2 1/2 hours late) we went to lunch at his favorite place, The Habit. Apparently it is a good post rappelling place to eat because we even ran into Jeremy there!
After unsuccessfully trying to get Gavin to take a nap, we went to go see the movie, "Madagascar 3." I thought it was a pretty good movie and Gavin loved it!! During the previews he kept saying "This is funny!" and laughing. (even during the non-funny previews.) We stopped and picked up pizza on our way home from the movie.
After dinner it was time for presents. I had taken Gavin to the 99 cent store to let him pick out anything he wanted for Andrew. It was pretty difficult trying to get him to pick something for Dad instead of himself. But when I finally convinced him that Dad would happily share with him, it was a lot easier.
He picked out these great "Cars" pens. Andrew was thrilled!
We also got dad a Giants hot wheels car.
Here is the dinosaur ("monster") balloon that Gavin picked out for Andrew.
Avery was just sitting in her chair looking cute.
Gavin definitely enjoyed it!
Happy Birthday Andrew!! I hope it was a great one!
(Random trivia: Andrew and I were born 10 days apart, at the same hospital, delivered by the same doctor. Crazy, right?)

You guys sure know how to celebrate. I'm glad your birthdays were so much fun. S'mores pies from McDonald's? I've never heard of such a thing, but I'll be finding out more very soon!
Does The Habit serve bison burgers? We went there once in Ventura, but it didn't really stand out.
Wait, smores pies??? Why do I not know about these? I am a smores expert! I just had to look them up on their website. They look good!
Avery has the cutest outfits!
Wow, that random trivia IS crazy!
